Graphics
During my internship with UNK Athletics, I have had the opportunity to create various graphics that I’m incredibly proud of using Photoshop. Some of these designs highlight specific accomplishments, while others were sponsored content from companies paying for the exposure. This added an extra layer of responsibility, as I want to ensure every graphic was visually appealing, professional, and aligned with the brand’s standards. Below are some of the graphics I created, each with its unique challenges and design elements.
White Background UNK Football Graphic
This was the graphic for the football home opener this year. I wanted to include the drone shot of the stadium, and I’m really proud of how it turned out.
Grey background football graphic
For the second home game, I kept the same layout as the first to make the graphics feel consistent, but I switched up the background and text colors. I always try to use a consistent color scheme in all the athletic graphics I create to keep a cohesive brand image.
Blue Background Football Graphic
The homecoming game is a big deal for football, so I wanted the graphic to reflect that. I kept the same style as the other game day graphics but added some homecoming details to make it special while still keeping everything consistent.
Volleyball day in Nebraska Graphic
This is my favorite graphic I’ve created for athletics so far. Volleyball Day in Nebraska was a huge event for UNK, and it was an honor to be part of it. I featured a senior volleyball player and stuck with the same design style I used for regular-season games but added Memorial Stadium in the background. I also experimented with light and shadows, and I was really proud of how powerful the final result turned out.
Yellow background UNK Basketball graphic
In all of these graphics, I used both a media day photo and one taken from the game. This way, I made sure to include the photographers’ photos while also using the media day pictures I took. It helped balance the design with a mix of behind-the-scenes and game moments.
Black background basketball graphic
Normally, for basketball graphics, I include both a male and female player since their games are on the same day. But for these, each post is for just one game, which is why there are two athletes in each.
White Background Basketball Graphic
I use a gradient map for the background so the key details of the court are still visible but don’t distract from the rest of the graphic. I also add a grid texture to the background to give it an extra layer and make the design more dynamic.
Blue Background Basketball graphic
Similar to football, I aimed to keep a consistent style for each basketball post. To do this, I rotated between four different background and text color variations for variety while maintaining a cohesive look.
Volleyball ranking graphic
For this Coaches Poll graphic, I used the player whose number matched their ranking. I think it’s a simple yet powerful graphic because it’s easy to understand, and I was able to post it quickly after finding out their placement for the week.
Regional Track Athlete of the Year graphic
This Regional Athlete of the Year graphic was given to me on very short notice, and they wanted it posted ASAP. I used gold and silver gradient text to give it a champion-like feel while still keeping the design clean and straightforward.
Swim Graphic
For this graphic, I used an image of the Kearney High pool for their home meet since that’s where it was held. I added an enlarged Loper logo to give the graphic some extra design, as it felt a bit bland without it.
